While I was driving up to the hospital I called my friend Cathi at home, who is a labor and delivery nurse at Ogden Regional, and by the time I got to my room she had already come up to the hospital and decorated--it was darling! She also arranged for me to have the biggest room. It was so great...I totally felt like they had rolled out the red carpet for me.

Getting my epidural. We almost lost David here...;) Turns out I was already an 8 or 81/2 by this time. funny huh? One of the nurses said I should've just finished it naturally since I was so close but....I didn't have to feel the worst part so I was happy.

When I had Lucas I was a big believer that only husband and wife should be at the delivery of a baby, which we did with Lucas...and ya know, over time I sort have forgotten so much about our experience. Of course it was special, but I do remember the room filled with a bunch of strangers and me feeling so out of my element. Anyway, when my friend Cathi had her baby she asked me to come up and take pictures so that her husband could be more in the moment. Her pictures turned out so beautiful and it was so great that her husband didn't have to scramble for the camera/video camera instead of paying attention to what really was important. Not to mention I really enjoyed being there without being the one on the table...it really was so special. So, I asked my sister to come and do the same thing for me. And can I just tell you how much I already love the pictures she took!? They have already made me cry several times (I only put up a couple because I realize other people don't really want to see them...don't worry, there weren't any between the legs shots or anything). I LOVE that I will be able to look back on this day and remember so much.

Since Mary, Cathi, and David were there....might as well have my mom come too! When Lucas was born she had no desire to be there, which was really great for me since I had already decided I didn't want anyone but David. But she, just like me, has changed her mind over the years and wanted to be there. Can I just say how amazing it was to have the room filled with people who loved me and my new baby versus a bunch of strangers where it's just another day on the job. It really was so amazing when she was born... there wasn't a dry eye in the room! love it.

If you're a hater and don't want to see a freshly born infant--close your eyes now.
I love this picture.

I cannot even begin to describe how special this moment was...so I won't. Lucas is an absolute angel and has been ever since.

Children are capable to love in such a pure and sincere way. It really is magical to see him with her. I had no reason to worry...he hasn't acted out or tried to get more attention at all. He just loves that he finally has a sister.

Jane was born on April 19th...Becca JANE's birthday and also Grandma Georgia ELLA's birthday...fun huh!?
