Willard Bay

A few weeks ago we hit Willard Bay with the Deru clan. We had some problems with the boat and weren't able to use it but that didn't seem to matter. We had such a great time! There really isn't anything better than a day at the beach.

It was the same weekend that Mary had her surgery so Ezra and Noah came too.

The beach babes...

The boys spent most of the day digging pathways and then hauling water up to the top and dumping it down. It seemed like a lot of work for the little boys but they were determined. They also had a lot of help from John, Ky, and Marc..they're the best!

Eventually it turned into a competition where the little boys tried to build a dam that could stop the two yellow buckets full of water...it was awesome.

Side note--Lucas thoroughly enjoyed saying the word dam and didn't hesitate to take every opportunity to do so.

Endless fun

I had the same baby twice

We made a perfect baby the first time around.
Why mess with perfection?

If they look this much alike as babies...what about six years from now!?

What do you think? (don't worry...I haven't shown this picture to Lucas)

Sunday Best

About the only time I remember my Dad wanting to take pictures was after Church. And I remember hating it. I just wanted to get inside, go the bathroom, take off my stinking dress, and eat whatever mom had cooking in the crockpot. Now, here I am, making my kids suffer through the same Sunday ritual.

We took these pictures after church when Jane was almost four weeks old (May 17th). She was HUNGRY and Luke was irritated that I wouldn't let him go inside and change out of his Sunday clothes. David was equally irritated for all the same reasons and would only agree to take a few, not actually be in any. It was an up hill battle and I'm not entirely sure it was worth it. I do, however, love how much personality shines through in these pics. I take it back....it was worth it.

Things went down hill after she realized her hand was not lunch.

not happy campers

Two thumbs down for Sunday pictures...until next week when I make them do it again.

Sleepy Smiles

A couple weeks ago (maybe three) Jane fell asleep in the stroller on our way to get Lucas from the bus stop. I grabbed the camera and to my absolute delight she decided to give me a sweet dreamy smile. She hadn't started smiling yet so it totally melted my heart. When Lucas was a baby I really wanted to capture one of those on camera but it never happened (they just happen so fast). I love her delicious face in these pictures...she's starting to get really chubby :) I wonder what she was dreaming about?

Kindergarten Graduation

Lucas graduated from kindergarten!
He's learned a lot this year...

How to be attentive and on task

How to memorize (love the girl's face in the background)

That wiggling your teeth is much less
offensive than picking your nose in public

That you don't actually have to do any of the actions
and your parents still think you're cute

and that all your hard work pays off in the end!

Congratulations Lucas!

I've been watching some of our old home videos and I can hardly believe that it was 6 1/2 years ago that my Lucas was born. He has been a ray of sunshine in our lives. I adore every little thing about him...the funny things he says, his sweet kisses and hugs, every freckle on his delicious face, and the way he makes me feel. I feel like I've hit the lottery...and then some.

Love you my sweet little Lucas

Awwww, Lisa....
