I can't believe I haven't blogged about this yet! So, last month David kept telling me that his face felt weird. It looked like he was maybe getting a cold sore on his lip but there wasn't any visible difference. He googled some of his symptoms and came in and said to me," Well, I'm either having a stroke OR I have Bell's Palsy". We both laughed and I said that it better not be Bell's Palsy or else I wouldn't love him anymore...hahaha (just kidding of course). Well, the next morning his face was completely drooping on the left side. He couldn't raise his left eyebrow, blink that eye, use his tongue on that side...he hardly even looked like himself. He went to the doctor and, OF COURSE it was Bell's Palsy (a condition that causes the facial muscles to weaken or become paralyzed)....STICK FOOT IN MOUTH. So sad. Anyway, the doctor prescribed him some steroids and basically said there's not much we could do but wait it out. Anywhere from 3-9 months.
I'm happy to report that I still loved him, Bell's Palsy and all
...maybe even a little more.
Who could resist this face....seriously?!

A week or two in David was pretty sure Jane was trying to make fun of him. Every time he smiled at her she'd always pull some crazy face.

It was a little scary there for awhile and I really did feel bad for him....which, of course, didn't stop me from laughing EVERY TIME we were talking! We were expecting for it to last quite a while but things started looking better after a couple weeks and he was pretty much back to normal in a month. I think David and I were both relieved. I'm not sure if our reaction was normal but we, for the most part, laughed our way right through this little hiccup in the road. What else can you do?

I thought he was just developing a sarcastic streak.
Speaking of - I can't believe your baby is already making fun of her parents
David- Sorry about your face! hehehe
jk- I'm glad everything is back to normal. :)
kinda scary then, kinda funny now. Darling of Jane-what a funny little face.
oh my gosh that is scary. My father in law had that. It was really scary wondering if he had a stroke or not. I am so glad you figured it out and got meds. I hope he recovers from it. It took my fil a long time to regain all his muscle function. So cute that lil Jane can't believe she's one!
I'm still not sure if this is a laughing matter. The picture, of course, is hilarious... but it's real... so is it funny? I don't know. Like that was really his face? Now what? Is it going to happen again?
What? Oh my. So, I have to admit that I full on laughed out loud when I saw the picture of Jane. Sorry David. I'm glad your face is back to normal. And Patti, I'm glad you still loved your husband despite the droopy features. That is pretty scary. Way to laugh through it though. Jordan and I celebrated our 4th anniversary last weekend. One of our traditions is to watch our wedding video. I still think our wedding video is the best ever. We even watched the raw footage this time. Thanks for doing such an amazing job.
So glad that you were able to keep a "stiff upper lip" through this trial in your life! Okay, that really wasn't very funny. I'm glad that things are back to normal. The photo of Jane is hysterical! Love you guys. Sandra
PLEASE!! Let's be honest, it's not that bad. I was imagining much worse.
Let's be optimistic about this, I can name plenty of people that you look better than. Just to name a few:
1) The Phantom of the Opera
2) Quasimodo
3) Two Face
4) Robert Pattinson
See?!?! There is always a brighter side.
I'm so glad to hear it's getting better after only a month. My old boss got Bell's Palsy and it lasted a year!!!
I am so glad that everything is better now. One of my friends had that when she gave birth to her son who is Jackson's age. She still has it too so it could be worse.
Jane is cute~
Kassie had that when she was in 1st grade. There is a dramatic story involvoing 911 in the middle of the night with the entire Roanoke fire department showing up for this tiny little 6 year old. I'll save that for later and just say I LOVED the picture of Jane - I'm sure she was mocking David:)
Very cool photography!! I'm glad I found your blog. :) Those kids are cute as can be!
vallaI didn't know about this! Is it better? But seriously, nothing can mar that face.
