So, we got a couple bids back on the house I have my heart set on building and they came back a bit too high. In about five years we'll be able to more comfortably and responsibly afford it. We could adjust and build something more affordable but this is the house that I plan on being in forever and I don't want to waste our lot on something I don't love. In the mean time we've decided to buy and it's a bit of an emotional roller coaster. It's been tricky to not get my heart set on things that for one reason or another aren't the best place to move our family...but we found a darling little 4-bedroom house Darling Street in Ogden. It's a great street in a great neighborhood and I'm really hoping it all works out!! I'll keep you posted. It's directly across the street from Grandma Betty (Uncle Bruce's mother).

Take your baby to work day

I've been trying to work as little as possible since I had Jane. David has said no to countless weddings but every once in awhile we get the clients that convince us by saying "Oh, just bring your baby!" So those are the few weddings we've accepted. David takes care of Jane and stays out of the spotlight most of the night. I've only have to sneak out one time to feed her and it only takes her about five minutes to eat. Most people don't even realize she's there. She's been amazing! This might sound crazy to some of you but it's the only way I'm willing to keep doing this for now. I'm not going to leave Jane for 8 hours. I'm just not. And it's seems to be working out really well.
Kelsey's wedding day
Here's Jane at the end of the night just patiently waiting for the dancing to stop.

Heather's wedding
There's cute Jane

Ashley's weddingThis was the first wedding I did after I delivered. I had agreed to shoot this wedding earlier in year before they were officially engaged. It was surprise when they finally decided to get married the month after I was due. Jane was four weeks old....I could only find evidence she was there in this shot. She didn't make a peep all day.
I always find a little bit of time to hold and kiss her and then back to Daddy she goes. Love her.

Labor Day Camping Trip

I'm stealing Scott's pictures from our little (David planned and executed) camping trip. Scott has a funny post about it so I'm not even going to attempt to be funny. I'd get creamed.

Here are just a few of his pics.
Hobo dinners....delicious!Cocoa in the morning
Play day at the beach
David likes to pester people...especially when they're sleeping. Poor Janey had to endure it this time.
She wasn't very amused when she woke up.
Heaven forbid I get ANY water close to his eyes when I wash his hair....hmmmm
Kids had a great time playing in the water Monday morning.
I'm a big fan of the overnighter camping trip. We packed up, played at the beach, and were home by 1:00 in the afternoon. Plenty of time to wash clothes, put things away, and be ready for school the next day. Two thumbs up for my husband who's always up for some family fun and willing to make it happen.

First Kiss

I must have written this down last year some time....just found it and thought it was cute.

Luke: "Mom.......I got kissed today."

Me: "What!?"
I tried not to over-react but there was horror written all over my face.

Luke: "I got kissed today........but not on the lips. Lisa kissed me on the forehead. Even though she kissed me, we don't love each other, we are just friends. It was just a joke.
But, when Caleb got kissed on the lips, he almost fell in love, and they almost danced!"

Lucas thinks that when people "fall in love" they dance because of all the wedding videos he's seen.

Lucas....I mean, Luke

I went to school to talk with my dear boy's teacher and was surprised to see all of his name tags with "Luke" on them. She said that on the first day of school he raised his hand and said he would like to be called "Luke" instead of "Lucas" this year. This was, of course, news to me. I usually call him Lucas at home so I'm trying to make the adjustment. We've always used both names so it's not that weird, but it just surprised me he felt strongly enough to tell his teacher. Last year he asked if he could change his name to "Jace" and then it was "Kasey". Enough said. He's been a little mad at me ever since I shut him down. So, I'm pleased that he was able to "change" his name to something I've already approved.

We had a Luke photo shoot on the second day of school.
I love it when he runs the show...

This was one of his better ideas...I didn't have the heart to tell him that a Corolla isn't a cool car.

I made him smile once so we could see his two beautiful front teeth...he's about to loose them both :(
Lucas is a lot easier to shoot than Jane. It's really hard to get pictures of her when I'm home alone. By the time David gets home pictures are the last thing on my mind. I need help...Mary, where are you!? Come over on Friday so you can help me! :)

First Day of School

Tears were shed...
