This is the new World of Color show and it's amazing! If you haven't seen it before make sure you get a view from the front (not the sides) or else you can't see the movie projections in the water. It's so worth it!
A couple of days before I booked this trip I received this postcard. Luke had no idea we were already planning to go it was just finding dates that worked with our schedules.
It's was so awesome to see one of his dreams come true.
Jane reached out when we were getting our picture with Minnie and said, "niiiiiccccce," and wanted to kiss her. Seriously?! She can be so sweet....when she wants. :)
October was the perfect time for us to go....not too busy and very spooky. Ever since Luke was little he has always been into creepy things. When we'd play at the beach and all the cousins were were building sandcastles he'd be making a "cemetery" (rocks would be the headstones). The only clothes he wants to get for school are the Halloween shirts that are out on display. The first movie he ever sat through and wanted to watch again was The Nightmare Before Christmas. Ya, he's a little weird ;) I'm not going to worry too much about it unless he starts wearing black lipstick.

I found this skirt before we left and HAD to get it.
Jedi training! We had to go a couple times before Luke was picked. They need to start offering this as a charged event so that any kid that wants to participate can. It was hard to enjoy watching Luke out there because of all the heart broken little boys crying in the audience. It's not like they didn't get picked to help out in a magic show or an assembly...it's JEDI TRAINING. This is almost like a religion for these little boys and they think unless they're picked they'll never be a true Jedi. There was one devastated tiny little boy that just curled up on a ball and silently cried on his mom's lap the entire show. HEARTBREAKING!

We left for our trip to California in the middle of the night so the kids would sleep most of the drive. It was probably my best idea ever. They only woke up ONCE the entire way. We arrived in CA mid-morning and decided to go the beach since we couldn't check into our hotel for a few hours. We had been cooped up in the car for 10 hours so this was the first chance we had to stretch our legs and play. It was glorious. I don't think there's anything more magical that watching your kids play at the ocean for the first time. Luke has been several times but he couldn't remember. Jane and Luke were both SHRIEKING with delight as they ran away from the waves. This was definitely one of those days that life feels like it couldn't get any better. We had such an amazing trip...honestly, it was so perfect that I feel like I can't get it all in one post. I think I'm going to stretch it out a little bit over the next few days. Hope it doesn't get too boring...if there's anyone out there that checks my blog anymore.

David was kind and sacrificed himself for the self portrait shot.

David hurt his back in July and his physical therapist didn't want him to be sitting in a chair longer than 20 minutes at a time. So, he had quite a bit of time off of work this summer. It's been SO fun having him home and be able to do all the fun summer activities with me and the kids. He's back full time on September 1st. I'm going to miss him.
I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are kind and true,
For the Heaven that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit too;
For all human ties that bind me,
For the task by God assigned me,
For the bright hopes yet to find me,
And the good that I can do.
I live to learn their story
Who suffered for my sake;
To emulate their glory,
And follow in their wake;
Bards, patriots, martyrs, sages,
The heroic of all ages,
Whose deeds crowd History's pages,
And Time's great volume make.
I live to hold communion
With all that is divine,
To feel there is a union
'Twixt Nature's heart and mine;
To profit by affliction,
Reap truth from fields of fiction,
Grow wiser from conviction,
And fulfill God's grand design.
I live to hail that season
By gifted ones foretold,
When men shall live by reason,
And not alone by gold;
When man to man united,
And every wrong thing righted,
The whole world shall be lighted
As Eden was of old.
I live for those who love me,
For those who know me true,
For the Heaven that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit too;
For the cause that lacks assistance,
For the wrong that needs resistance,
For the future in the distance,
And the good that I can do.
